I'm very impressed by how much of the bird your photo shows us: the wings, the head and top of the back, the legs and claws... it's almost like you asked him to pose for you and he obliged!
400 2.8 much better ))) with 1.4 TC you have almost 600 f4 same quality on f5 like sharpness , I had before 500 f4 IS , and for me 400 and 300 2.8 are best canon lenses for wildlife ))
ah awesome, thanks for the swift reply, What about the weight is it easy to get used to, I had a go with my friends 300mm 2.8 is and I can hand hold that quite easy, very similar weight to my current set up of a 70-200 is ii and 2x converter.
